Position – Mechanical Design Engineer role
Location – Based close to Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Working hours – Monday to Friday – Full time hours
Capacity of role – Permanent position
Salary – Up to £38,000 per annum depending on experience

Our client is a leading manufacturer in the local area and currently seeking an additional draughtsperson to support their drawing office.
Applicants will have worked with 3D packages on AutoCAD and Solidworks ideally and will have the desire to succeed and progress within a team.

Main duties will include –
• To take a lead role in the concept and design of production tooling that meets the needs of the production department.
• Manage timelines and resources for each project.
• Generation of project documentation to include detail drawings, spare parts lists, instruction of use literature.
• Generate regular project update reports.
• Create and develop tooling using tool room/workshop-based machinery.
• Develop test methods, data analysis and evaluation to determine or prove design performance.
• Function within all quality systems and regulations.
• Occasional UK and International travel to satisfy the needs of various projects.

Candidate Attributes –
• Experience in using a range of tool room/workshop-based machinery.
• Experience in using 3D CAD software package such as SolidWorks.
• A University degree in either Mechanical Engineering or Product Design or time served in a similar role.
• Self-motivated and the ability to work well as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.
• Confident and comfortable to provide verbal and written updates to senior management.
