The Role:

Due to extensive growth a position has become available for an Engineering Buyer. The is to take full responsibility for the sourcing and purchasing of all materials and services required by the company. This includes materials for production, tooling, stationery, sub-contract processes and any other purchased items required by the company. In addition to this, the person will be responsible for the recording of all new sales enquiries onto the company’s enquiry database and sourcing of quotes for material and sub-contract prices for these enquiries.

Ideally the successful candidate with have previous experience of purchasing in the aerospace industry and will be familiar with material and process specifications for Rolls Royce and the aerospace market in general.

What will you be doing?

  • Purchasing raw materials for the production as per the demand and managing the deliveries
  • Responsible for machine tooling and subcon process purchase.
  • Obtaining quotations for raw materials and surface treatments to assist commercial team
  • Responsible for loading the customer enquiries on to internal systems
  • Raising POs for raw materials and component parts
  • Negotiating pricing and other terms with suppliers to improve cost base and deliver savings
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing data within the system ensuring full traceability
  • Completing supplier reviews - monitoring and reporting on supplier delivery & quality performance

What will you bring to the party?

  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Admin experience
  • Commercial awareness
  • Aerospace industry experience an advantage (ideally at least 2 to 3 years)
  • IT – Microsoft packages (excel, word, access, office)
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels and all departments both internally and externally
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Good time management with the ability to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines
  • Aptitude for creative and innovative thinking
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • High degree of integrity as data confidentiality is paramount to this position
  • Ability to work on own initiative
