Our client is a distinguished private developer based in Birmingham specialising in the residential sector. With a track record of delivering exceptional projects, they are committed to excellence and innovation in every aspect of their work. 

They are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Director, Associate, or Partner, to build, lead and manage their residential property conveyance team.

The Residential Legal Director, Associate, or Partner will play a pivotal role in developing and shaping the legal department, with a key focus on the conveyance and process of a substantial number of yearly sales, whilst overseeing a diverse range of construction, planning, and building legal matters (outsourced where required). Reporting directly to the CEO.

With a growing portfolio of high-profile projects and a strong presence in the new build residential market, the firm is seeking a Legal Director, Associate, or Partner to lead and manage its conveyancing and property law division.

Key Responsibilities:

- Legal Leadership: Provide expert legal advice and strategic direction to clients involved in new build residential developments, ensuring that all aspects of conveyancing and property transactions are handled efficiently.

- Conveyancing Expertise: Manage and oversee the conveyancing process for new build residential projects, including the sale, purchase, and transfer of properties.

- Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients such as property developers, construction firms, and private investors.

- Business Development: Drive business growth by identifying and pursuing new opportunities in the residential property market, contributing to the firm’s overall strategic goals.

- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of legal professionals, ensuring high standards of legal advice, client service, and compliance.

- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all transactions comply with relevant laws and regulations, including property law, planning law, and environmental regulations.

- Dispute Resolution: Advise on and manage disputes arising from residential property transactions, working closely with clients to resolve issues efficiently. 

ey Requirements:

- Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years' experience in new build residential property and conveyancing.

- Qualification: Qualified solicitor (SRA registered), with a strong background in property law.

- Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing and developing a legal team, with strong project management skills.

- Client-Focused: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with high-profile clients, with a focus on service excellence.

- Commercial Awareness: A deep understanding of the residential property market, with the ability to provide commercial, client-focused legal advice.

- Technical Skills: Excellent knowledge of the full conveyancing process, property law, contract negotiation, and planning and regulatory requirements.

- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters to non-legal stakeholders.

- Business Development: A track record of contributing to business growth, including developing new client relationships, and expanding existing accounts.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Partnership Experience: For Partner-level candidates, a proven track record in leading a practice area, including managing client portfolios and delivering business development objectives.

- Industry Knowledge: Experience working with major housebuilders, property developers, or construction firms would be advantageous.
