Job Title: Estimator

Job Summary: As an Estimator, you will manage the estimation process from bid acceptance to tender handover, ensuring high-quality and accurate tender proposals. This role involves mentoring junior estimating staff, adhering to our established processes, and delivering timely tenders, quotes, and budgets. The Estimator will work closely with the operations and commercial teams to create cohesive, competitive proposals, incorporating quality promises into cost projections. Additionally, you will actively contribute to the growth of our supply chain by securing competitive sub-contract pricing, helping us maintain our standards of transparency and high customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end estimating process from “yes bid” through to handover on secured projects.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff to strengthen team expertise and continuity.
  • Adhere to and improve upon company’s established estimating procedures to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
  • Produce timely tenders, quotations, and budget proposals, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Operations and Head of Commercials to present unified financial proposals.
  • Coordinate with the bid writing team to incorporate quality commitments within cost estimates.
  • Obtain competitive sub-contractor quotes, ensuring they meet tender requirements.
  • Prepare detailed price breakdowns for adjudication meetings and manage all aspects of the tender handover process.
  • Engage with Directors to determine project-specific profit margins and other key financial metrics.
  • Conduct tender handover meetings with operations and commercial teams to ensure comprehensive project understanding.
  • Support supply chain growth by fostering strong sub-contractor relationships and sourcing high-quality services.
  • Participate in client meetings, tender reviews, and interviews as needed.
  • Provide accurate breakdowns of tenders and quotations as requested by clients.
  • Generate and contribute to regular tender reports for Head of Department review.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in an estimating role, preferably within construction or social housing maintenance.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in estimating software and MS Office Suite.
