Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + Package (Enhanced Pension, Annual Leave, Health Coverage, Car Allowance)

Walker & Sloan is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager for a regional main contractor with projects across Reading and Southampton. This role offers the opportunity to lead design coordination and management on a variety of impactful projects, ensuring alignment in quality, budget, and scheduling from concept to completion.
In this position, you will manage and deliver comprehensive, commercially viable design packages for construction and procurement. You’ll ensure design outputs meet contractual obligations, budgets, and all regulatory requirements, as well as support the development and application of BIM principles and execution plans. You’ll work closely with the pre-construction team during bidding stages, identifying design improvements, managing risks, and coordinating with external consultants and subcontractors, ensuring all project elements meet high standards.
The ideal candidate will have contractor design management experience, ideally with a focus on educational or similar public sector projects. Strong technical expertise and project management skills are essential, as is the ability to translate designs into practical, buildable solutions. You will bring experience in leading multidisciplinary teams, from architects to engineers, guiding them toward cohesive project objectives.
