£25,000 - £30,000/annum + bonus

My client is a supplier of all forms of metals and plastics to the UK manufacturing sector. They work with a large number of production mills around the world, each specialising in particular products, to bring together a wide stock range of engineering materials for supply into the UK. They stock and move thousands of tonnes of metals every year, supplying these products through a network of depots UK wide

 Key Roles & Responsibilities 

• Managing inventory levels based on established supply strategy, goals, and related products

• Raising of Purchase Orders ensuring all supporting documents are compiled and processed correctly. 

• Ensure quality, service level, and negotiating prices to ensure they meet commercial and internal customers' needs. 

• Ensure suppliers are compliant with all applicable legal and statutory requirements whilst also building and maintaining relationships with new and existing suppliers. 

• Validating supplier metrics and verifying reasons for non-compliance, working with our suppliers for improvement where metrics are not consistent/acceptable. 

• Contribute to the development of the department overall identifying and guiding improvement to processes and activities to increase the overall effectiveness of the team. 

• Completing import paperwork with correct incoterms and liaising with clearing agents in a timely manner. 

• Adhere to agreed policies, procedures and processes for the purchase and supply of material ensuring maintenance of good practice principles.

• Able to build strong relationships both internally and externally (internationally). 

• Strong customer focus with a drive to provide a valued service. 

• Excellent attention to detail and high standards for quality control. 

• A positive attitude: a ‘can do’ approach, good work ethic and willingness to learn. 

• Strong analytical and organisational skills. 

• Ability to create and administer a task priority list based on (changing) company needs. 

• Able to multi-task, operate at a consistent pace and manage timely situations under pressure. 

• Working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). 

• Experience in a metal handling or manufacturing environment an advantage 

• Willingness for occasional travel when required to other sites and suppliers
