3PL Buyer

My client is an established and growing global organisation that works within the electronics distribution sector working with clients within the Defence, Aerospace, Automotive and Medical sectors.  Employing nearly 200 people worldwide and with a turnover of £200million, this is truly an exciting time to be part of this dynamic company.

My client is a well-known leading provider of comprehensive supply-chain solutions with a 20-year history in the industry. Catering to an array of blue-chip companies across multiple sectors, they are recognised as a pivotal one-stop solution. This is an exciting opportunity into the pathway of procurement, endorsing the right candidate with tailored training and further education which will evolve and develop with the future of 3PL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the 3PL Supply Chain Manager, the role of the buyer will be responsible for the procurement of 3PL projects, including quotations and supplier management. They will be responsible for delivering product to the customer as per the 5 rights of procurement: the right quality, quantity, place, time and price.
  • Regular engagement with suppliers to negotiate the best deal and collaborate with them for supply chain solutions, to ensure continuity of supply, reducing the total cost of ownership and risk.
  • Utilising tools such as CalcuQuote and Z2Data for RFQ’s, risk analysis, BOM health and obsolescence will be key part of the role. Analysing the information to offer comprehensive supply chain solutions for the customer, informative market knowledge and report key data which may influence procurement strategies for 3PL and their customer base. 
  • Engagement with the group global sourcing team to seek opportunities for enhanced PPV, solutions for obsolescence and part shortages.
  • Collaborate with the product and technology team to deliver design registered pricing for the 50+ lines the company are franchised for, providing technical/alternative solutions to existing and evolving component challenges.
  • Deliver projects to the 5 rights of procurement within the scope of the contract.
  • Improved GP for project profitability and against quarterly targets
  • Stock Control – procuring to lean inventory.
  • Contractual customer KPI’s.
  • Cost reductions

  • Project compliance management

Essential Functions:

  • Manage multiple projects, often complex and simultaneously.
  • Strong business system capability (INFOR, Microsoft BI, CalcuQuote, Excel and Z2Data)
  • Supplier engagement and management Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Data driven with a desire for accuracy and efficiency
  • Dynamic and engaging personality, able to effectively network and influence at all levels.
  • Willingness to embrace change
  • Excellent standard of communication, both written and verbal
  • Resiliency and ability to positively respond to setbacks and proactively resolve problems.
