Are you passionate about supporting young people in their educational journey? Accelerate Teaching is excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Pastoral Worker to join a vibrant secondary school in Leeds, starting in September 2024.

About the Role:

As a Pastoral Worker, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for students. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individual and group support to students to address personal, social, and emotional issues.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement effective support strategies.
  • Monitoring and reporting on student progress and well-being.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting a culture of respect and inclusion within the school community.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of pastoral programmes and activities.
  • Supporting the school's safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a compassionate and proactive individual with a genuine commitment to improving the lives of young people. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar pastoral role, preferably within a secondary school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding practices and procedures.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A calm and patient demeanour, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and empathy.
  • A relevant qualification in education, counselling, social work, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
