Bid Manager

Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday Hybrid

Location: Enfield, North London

Salary: £60-70k + Car Allowance

Project Partners are now on the look out for an experienced Bid Manager with a strong background in Construction, Civils or Utilities.

You will be responsible for managing the entire bid process with oversight Head of Bid Management, requiring a significant focus on ‘rolling your sleeves up’ to be hands-on with bid writing, ensuring that all submissions are completed on time, articulate the win strategy and the story of our solutions to the client with real impact.

You will also work closely with other Bid Writers and Coordinators, supporting the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance our bidding processes and success rates.

Role Summary

Strategy and Development:

  • Work with the Head of Bid Management to develop and implement bid strategies.
  • Facilitate win strategy and answer planning workshops with wider bid team for complex Framework-level submissions and other strategic opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the bid process and contribute to the evolution of the in-house bid management function.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of market trends, competitor activities, and client needs within the water utilities sector.

Bid Management & Writing

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end bid process for projects within the water utilities sector.
  • Implement robust bid management systems that incorporate answer planning, pink, red and gold review stages (or equivalent) to a defined bid programme, ensuring iterative response development and structured input/review from internal stakeholders.
  • Write and edit high-quality bid responses that clearly articulate our value proposition, working collaboratively with subject matter experts to gather information and tailor responses to client needs.
  • Review and revise contributions from other writers to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including project management, engineering, PMO, ESG and finance, to gather necessary information and insights for bid development.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including clients, partners, and suppliers, to build strong relationships and ensure alignment with bid requirements.

Bid Systems and Data

  • Support building the new Bid Library and Knowledge Hub
  • Helping to evolve bid tools, systems, digital integration (AI etc) etc

Marketing & Communications

  • Support creating content across work-winning and marcomms – technical and people-based storytelling, case studies, CV’s etc
  • Strategic and creative support for new functions across internal and external channels (where required around bid management)
  • Carry out any other duties appropriate to this post

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience of successful bid management and submissions within the built environment for a Main Contractor in the Utilities, Construction, Engineering or FM sectors would be ideal
  • Demonstrable bid leadership / management experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, with flexibility around working hours at key stages during crucial pinch points of submissions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write answer plan, write bid responses from scratch and to effectively edit the work of other Bid Writers and Content Creators
  • Personable, pro-active, professional and able to demonstrate full commitment to exceptional stakeholder relationship management
  • Ability to influence others at all levels of the business
  • Training and coaching of Bid personnel
  • Ability to influence within a matrix structure
  • Proficient relevant IT skills, particularly within the Microsoft 365 suite and ideally with Adobe Creative Cloud software (Indesign)
