Salary/Rate:

About the company

My client is arguably the most impressive utility contractors in London & the South East. They have an industry-leading, data, and technology team, a brilliant tier-one, yet humble senior leadership team, and one of the strongest commercial teams in the utility industry. My client is a multi-disciplined, cash-rich, well-known contractor who is currently turning over £90M per annum with projections of turning over £100M in the next year. They specialise primarily within the water (wastewater and clean water) and infrastructure/non-infrastructure areas of civil engineering, with offices in North London, Kent, and on the south coast (this role will be based in their North London office). The company has some of the best staff in the industry working for them, they are very well respected across the utility industry and they’re financially very secure and in a stable position. While the business is looking to expand, they are also keen to maintain its family feel atmosphere, where it’s a fun working environment and everyone, is treated as a name, not a number, with the respect from the directors across the company. This is a contractor I enjoy recruiting for.

They are a relationship-based contractor and pride themselves on the quality of the work that they produce. This has led them to have repeat business with Thames Water, holding certain frameworks for over 30 years. On top of this, they have long-standing relationships with Affinity Water, Southern Water, and South East Water and have recently started working with Anglian Water.

About the role

Due to a large pipeline, long-term pipeline of work, my client is looking for a Bid Manager to join the company. You will be working on water infrastructure projects in North London/North West London. The projects will involve will be a mixture of clean and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will be joining an experienced team who have been with the company for several years. You will be working in a team that consists of other Bid Managers, Bid Coordinators, Bid Writers, and have good relationships with the Estimating team. A lot of the Pre Construction team come from an Engineering background so you’ll be working around technical professionals with a wealth of knowledge on how things are built, which should continue to improve your development. You will need to have experience of public sector bidding and have been involved in strategic reviews. Due to the long-term stability of all the members of staff within the Pre-Construction team, they are looking for somebody who can bring fresh ideas and new ways of thinking to help them on their tenders.  You will be working in a really good team, a team with a great technical understating of the utility industry, meaning you will be learning and developing your skill set in the long term.

About the benefits & Rewards

My client is one of the best utilities & Civil Engineering Contractors in the southeast, they have a low staff turnover and a great relationship with several key water clients such as Thames Water, Southern Water, Affinity Water, and South East Water, which means you will be offered long term stability. On top of this, you will be rewarded with a salary ranging between £70,000 - £80,000 package on top.

About the requirements

You will be an experienced and capable bid manager with a background ideally in construction but this isn’t essential. A background in marketing would also be useful.
