Finance Recovery Officer

IMH Recruitment are currently working with Oxford City Council to source Recovery Officers within the Council Tax and Business department.

Job purpose:

The job will involve collecting monies owed, court attendance, payment plan negotiations, referring suitable debtors to Advice Centres, taking recovery action where a plan cannot be agreed and identifying suitable cases for legal enforcement or write-off.

Responsibilities:

  • To collect money due in respect of Council Tax, Business Rates
  • Processing incoming data in accordance with legislation and Council Policies to ensure the collection of Council Tax, Business Rates is made correctly.
  • Following the recovery procedures to decide the best action to take to collect the money due.
  • Maximising take up of benefits, discounts, exemptions and reliefs for those entitled to them.
  • Escalating cases to Senior Recovery Officers where normal recovery tools are ineffective or are challenged.

Pay & Hours:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Usual office hours (waiting for confirmation)
  • £16.49 P/Hour
  • Hybrid working

Must have local authority council tax and business rates recovery experience. Candidates are not expected to come into the office full time and wouldn't be expected to go to court.

Expected hours: 37 per week

Experience:

  • debt collection: 3 years (preferred)
  • business support: 3 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
