Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a wealth of SEN knowledge and understanding, and experience in handling children with behavioural issues and additional needs? Are you confident in working and facilitating small group interventions and 1:1 activities with children who need additional tailored support?

GSL education are currently looking for a full-time experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in the Christchurch area.

The school prides itself in being an inclusive and creative place for all children.  Their dedicated team of staff work hard to ensure that every child enjoys their learning and aspires to reach their full potential. Although the school is a mainstream primary school, they are currently looking for Teaching Assistant to specifically help with the students with SEN needs, children who are working below their key stage, or face challenges accessing the learning and social play activities. Prior SEN and teaching assistant experience is crucial for this role.


Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Assisting teachers in implementing effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Providing individualised support to students facing behavioural challenges.
  • Collaborating with the school's SENCO and other professionals to develop customised intervention plans.
  • Fostering the overall well-being of students and contributing to a positive school ethos.
  • Providing a nurturing environment for children who are struggling to keep up with schools
  • Managing low-level behaviour and attachment challenges among students
  • Providing feedback to the teachers as needed after working with pupils and leading interventions

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies and SEN knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students with their needs.
