Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Christchurch

Salary: £12.82 per hour

Start date: October 2024

Hours: Full-time 8:30 – 3:30 (30 minute lunch break)

GSL Education are looking for a proactive, experienced and confident individual who can support a challenging key stage 1 class in a mainstream primary school situated in Christchurch. The school is inclusive and dedicated to supporting pupils of all primary ages and abilities, and they have a high percentage of pupils who have a variety of additional needs. Because of this, the school are seeking a competent individual who can effectively support and positively impact the pupils.

The role will consist of the following responsibilities:

  • 1:1 support for SEN pupils eg. working with pupils with ASC, complex needs, challenging behaviours
  • Leading and facilitating small group interventions for children who need additional support, and are currently working below their key stage
  • Help to bridge the gap so that all pupils are appropriately challenged and progressing at their own ability
  • Supporting the class teacher with behaviour management, and working collaboratively with staff to ensure consistency
  • Following Individual Education Plans and EHCPs for individual pupils so that the correct provision is put in place

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have lots of patience, be proactive and resilient! - This role can be challenging, but it is very rewarding!
  • Experience working within a primary/SEN/SEMH school (preferred, not essential)
  • A strong ability to develop relationships and rapport with pupils
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
