1st Line Support Engineer - Manchester City Centre - £24,000 (onsite)

My client are seeking a 1st Line IT Support Engineer to join their IT team. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for all IT-related queries and issues, providing effective and efficient support to ensure smooth and continuous operations across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide First-Level Support: Act as the initial point of contact for all technical support issues, responding to requests via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
  • User Assistance: Assist users with software installations, configuration, and training on standard software and hardware.
  • System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as updates and backups, to ensure systems run efficiently.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of all support activities, solutions, and user guides.
  • Escalation: Escalate unresolved issues to relevant teams, providing detailed information and context to ensure a smooth handover.
  • Asset Management: Track and manage IT assets, ensuring accurate records of hardware and software inventories.
  • Customer Service: Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a similar IT support role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic network knowledge. Exposure to Mac OS an advantage.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Good analytical and troubleshooting skills with a logical approach to problem-solving.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Customer Focus: A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with remote support tools.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Office 365 administration.
  • Exposure to VMware virtualization
