This role is based within their Mission Systems Team, which is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering some of the world's most advanced aviation mission planning, management, and Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) systems.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting safety analysis on company-designed mission support systems, including Mission Planning Systems and tablet-based EFB products.
  • Producing GECO System Hazard Analysis Reports.
  • Producing GECO System Safety Assessment Reports.
  • Maintaining and updating the GECO System Hazard Log and producing relevant reports.
  • Supporting the maintenance, control, and configuration management of all documentation related to the Mission Systems' Safety Management System.


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in safety-critical systems engineering.
  • Proactive individual with a 'can-do attitude' who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Possess excellent attention to detail and the discipline to produce high-quality outputs.
  • Inquisitive and analytical mind, capable of researching issues and suggesting pragmatic solutions.
  • Desire to develop professionally within a growing business.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Safety-Critical Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of software- and safety-related standards such as: RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO-200B (ED-76A) and Def Stan 00-056.
  • Demonstrated experience of the functional safety of complex systems.
  • Proficiency in using common safety engineering tools and techniques, such as Goal-Structuring Notation (GSN), Claims-Argument-Evidence (CAE), Functional Failure Analysis (FFA), and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)/Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
  • Experience of system hazard log development and management.
  • Experience of producing System Safety Assessment Reports.


Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publications.
  • Experience in demonstrating functional safety within the civil air or military air sectors.
  • Experience with software-intensive systems, aviation mission planning systems, and electronic flight bag applications/standards.
  • Understanding of aircraft integration requirements and challenges.
  • Experience in stakeholder management within the Defence Air Environment.
