SEN Teaching Assistant - SLD

Pay in line with experience: £70-£100 per day!

Supply Desk are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a successful and inclusive Astwood school. The role will require you to assist students with severe and complex learning difficulties on a 1:1 and small group basis, with a high priority on developing the pupils’ communication, independence, social and functional everyday living skills.

The School:

Supply Desk are proud to be working alongside an ‘Outstanding’ school located in Astwood. This school provides an inclusive learning environment for pupils aged 3-11 years with sever and complex learning difficulties. The school has excellent facilities which provides the necessary support for the needs of its students, such as having their own hydrotherapy pool and amazing sensory gardens. Each student has their own personal care plan and staff regularly liaise with health professionals and parents to provide the greatest support possible. As the students at this school get older and approach the end of their academic careers, the school provides a fantastic opportunity to develop life skills by working at the on-site coffee shop open to the public twice a week. 

The Role:

• Working 1:1 and in small groups with children with SLD, PMLD, Autism, SLC, Sensory difficulties
• The children may experience great difficulty with social interaction, challenging behavior, and may dependent on adults
• Supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons and supervising activities

The Candidate:

• Experience working with Special Educational Needs is desirable
• Using transferrable skills such as a carer or psychology graduate
• A DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one
• Patient and nurturing
