TSA Surveying are working in partnership with a Multi-Disciplinary Company who are looking for an experienced Head of Retrofit to manage a team of Coordinators, Desingers, Assessors and Installers and deliver projects through SHF, ECO and GBIS funding.

This organisation has established networks in the Social Housing sector and has a broad range of core built environment disciplines. Originally a software provider that have now grown to deliver retrofit services on ECO4 as well as the Great British Installation Scheme. They are to bulk up their retrofit offering at the moment as they are going through a period of expansion and development, and want to invest in retrofit professionals who are looking for a future in the energy efficiency sector.

Salary will depend heavily on experience.

The role will involve:

  • Project Delivery: Oversee the full cycle of high-volume retrofit projects, ensuring timely, within-budget, and high-quality completion while meeting PAS 2030/2035 standards and client expectations. Manage tenders and conduct thorough tender analysis for cost-effectiveness and profitability.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a retrofit strategy aligned with company goals and long-term vision, driving both operational excellence and business growth by exploring new market opportunities and innovative approaches.
  • Budget and Performance Management: Set and monitor budgets, ensuring financial targets are met while tracking project costs and performance metrics. Take corrective actions when needed to optimise profitability and maintain schedules and SLAs.
  • Operational Efficiency: Enhance team workflows and processes for maximum efficiency by identifying improvement and cost-saving opportunities. Apply continuous improvement methods (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) and leverage data analytics for better decision-making and outcome forecasting.
  • Stakeholder and Contract Management: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and suppliers, negotiating contracts and managing relationships to ensure smooth project delivery and contractual compliance.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and develop a high-performing team of Retrofit Coordinators, Designers, and Support Staff through recruitment, training, mentoring, and career development plans.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all retrofit projects adhere to industry regulations and standards, including PAS 2030/2035 and building regulations, while identifying and mitigating risks to achieve safe and compliant outcomes.

They need someone with:
 
  • Extensive experience leading cross-functional teams, including technical experts and support staff.
  • Strong ability to manage large-scale, multi-project portfolios while ensuring timelines, consistency, cost control, and regulatory compliance.
  • Solid commercial acumen with expertise in pricing, budget management, and cost control to ensure project profitability.
  • Proven skills in negotiating and managing contracts, defining scopes of work, and meeting SLAs and contractual requirements.
  • Experience in highly regulated, compliance-driven industries.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Significant experience in the energy efficiency and retrofit sector.

They are ideally looking for someone with:

  • Experience in continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to boost efficiency in high-volume settings.
  • Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, especially those governing energy efficiency and retrofit projects, ensuring compliance with standards like PAS 2030/2035, insulation, ventilation, and renewable energy systems.
  • Relevant industry qualifications, including:
    • Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management
    • Domestic Energy Assessor
    • Retrofit Assessor
    • Level 3 in Domestic Retrofit Advice
    • Level 3 in Older and Traditional Buildings.
